Wynand Claassen is also a well-published writer and columnist. During 1985, Wynand published his autobiography, “More Than Just Rugby” (with Dan Retief), which topped the best-seller’s list in South Africa for three consecutive months. A reprinted version of the book, “The Final Chapter”, appeared in 1996. Wynand was also the Editor-in-Chief of South Africa’s only weekly rugby newspaper (at the time), “Rugby Week”, and also Editor-in-Chief of both “Rugby 15 International” and the “Sharks Magazine”, the official publication of the Natal Sharks.

Three year ago he published another autobiography about his youth, “Kaalvoetklong tot Rugbytoks”, a nostalgic trip of growing up in the Transvaal Platteland during the 50’s and 60’s.

Wynand was also a part-time rugby commentator for M-Net SuperSport.
